Frequently asked questions

Is there a free trial?
Echo+ comes with a 7-day free trial. Add a card to start it — you're not charged during the trial, and we email you before it ends. If you don't cancel before then, it continues as a monthly Echo+ plan at the listed price. Legacy and Family have no trial: they start when you subscribe. When a trial ends, your vault stays safe; choose a plan whenever you are ready.
How does storage work?
Every plan lets you choose from 100 GB up to 10 TB, and you can add +500 GB, +1 TB or +5 TB on top of any paid plan. Storage is a firm limit rather than a surprise bill: we warn you at 75%, 90% and 95% full, and new uploads pause at 100% until you free space or pick a larger option. You can change storage at any time — moving to a smaller option works once your files fit.
Is backup included?
Yes. Every paid plan includes a daily backup of your vault and files, kept in a separate, private backup area. Deleted files and older snapshots stay recoverable for 30 days. There is nothing to add and no extra charge. The free trial does not include backup.
Can I add more storage?
Yes. On any paid plan you can add +500 GB, +1 TB or +5 TB of extra storage, billed monthly or annually alongside your plan. The price is always shown before checkout.
Can I switch plans or billing later?
Yes. Upgrades apply straight away and Stripe prorates the difference on your next invoice. You can also cancel from Settings → Plan & storage — your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for.
Is my vault really private?
Your vault is encrypted with AES-256-GCM on your device, using a key derived from your Vault PIN — which is never sent to MyEcho — and a server secret. Photos, videos and files are kept in a private storage bucket with no public links and are only served to you when you're signed in; they are protected by access control, not by your Vault PIN. What happens if I miss a check-in?
If you miss your check-in window (Legacy and Family), MyEcho sends a private message to your designated trusted contact. They must confirm before any delivery happens — so a forgotten check-in never triggers delivery by accident.
Can I export or delete my data?
Yes. Export a full encrypted backup from Settings at any time. If you delete your account, you have 30 days to restore it from the link we email you; after that your vault, media and backups are permanently erased. You are never locked in.
